Zoom Connects Live Instruction, Video Learning, and Engagement Insights for Higher Education

Today at the 2026 EDUCAUSE Annual Conference, Zoom announced the general availability of Zoom Classroom for U.S. customers, a new AI-first application that brings Zoom’s collaboration tools directly into learning management systems (LMS) that support the LTI® 1.3 standard. Zoom also introduced Zoom Video Management 2.0, which helps give institutions new ways to create, organize, discover, and measure video-based learning.

Together, these offerings are able to connect more of the higher education experience, from scheduling and delivering live classes to sharing course content, reviewing recordings, and understanding student engagement. By bringing these workflows closer to the LMS and the learning experience, Zoom can help educators spend less time managing disconnected tools and more time focused on teaching and student success.

Additionally, educators can leverage Zoom’s AI-first Zoom Rooms and Meetings experience on Cisco hardware. Native Zoom Rooms are expected to be available on a wide range of compatible Cisco devices, with additional hardware support on the way, letting educators and staff maximize their existing equipment investments.

Updated Zoom LTI App

Zoom’s new LTI app, Zoom Classroom, offers enhanced, more powerful integration with Learning Management Systems. Available today on the Zoom Marketplace, the new application supports:

Blackboard
Canvas by Instructure
D2L Brightspace
Moodle
And other LMS platforms compatible with LTI 1.3.

Within their LMS courses, instructors can:

Schedule one-time or recurring Zoom Meetings
Share Zoom Whiteboards, Zoom Canvas docs, and Zoom Clips on course pages, in discussions, and in assignments
Create assignments and have the submitted grades automatically synchronize to the LMS gradebook.

Zoom intends to continue to build functionality on top of Zoom Classroom by adding other first-party solutions such as Zoom Video Management, Docs, Whiteboard, Scheduler, and more. Administrators can simplify deployment through LTI 1.3 dynamic registration and manage access through role-based controls and administrator-defined permissions.

Enabling Video Learning To Be More Discoverable and Measurable

Once a class ends, the learning continues through recordings and other on-demand video content. Zoom Video Management 2.0 helps institutions turn that content into a more useful and measurable part of the learning experience.

New, improved video analytics give faculty and administrators visibility into views, completion rates, engagement scores, and trends across content. These insights can help educators understand what students watched, where they stopped engaging, and which materials may benefit from additional instructional support.

Expanded branding and a new AI Content Studio experience can also make it easier for institutions to create polished, campus-branded videos without needing to rely on third-party software. Institutions can share branded video portals across websites, intranets, and the LMS, allowing for a more consistent experience for students, faculty, and staff.

For eligible plans, Zoom AI can help make video content easier to navigate and more accessible through capabilities like automatic transcription, translated captions, AI-generated smart chapters, and intelligent search across video transcripts. Students can quickly find the portions of a lecture or presentation they need to review without scrubbing through an entire recording.
