  • The first official MCP connector from a freelancer and small-business management platform lets AI tools like ZoomMate, Anthropic Claude, and OpenAI act directly on a business’s clients, deals, projects, and tasks.

Bonsai by Zoom already gives small businesses one place to manage their client operations: CRM, proposals, contracts, projects, and invoicing. Instead of juggling different tools, business owners run everything from a single workspace built for how they actually work.

Zoom today announced the Bonsai by Zoom MCP Connector, making that workspace AI-powered.

Because Bonsai already holds the full picture, business owners get an AI assistant that’s ready to act. It knows their clients, their pipeline, their projects, and their priorities.

Connected to tools like ZoomMate, Claude, and ChatGPT, it can create tasks, update deals, launch projects, and keep records current. Less time on operational work, more time on the business itself.

“Bonsai was built to be the operating system for independent professionals and small businesses.
With the MCP Connector, we’re taking that a step further: now you have an AI assistant that has full context on your clients, your projects, and your pipeline. It can actually do the work for you, not just talk about it,” said Redon Gjika, General Manager, Bonsai by Zoom.

Bonsai by Zoom MCP Connector capabilities

Built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the Bonsai by Zoom MCP Connector gives compatible AI platforms access to Bonsai data within AI-powered workflows.
Here’s what it enables:
  • Connect your Bonsai workspace to the AI tools you already use: Whether it’s Claude, ChatGPT or ZoomMate, the connector lets you work with your business data directly through the AI interface you prefer.
  • Update your CRM after every call. After a meeting, ask AI to create or update client and company records in Bonsai.
  • Keep your pipeline moving. View deals, create new ones, update stages, and add notes to keep context fresh.
  • Stay on top of projects. Get a live overview of active projects, spin up new ones, and check what’s on track. Your AI pulls real data from Bonsai so you always have the full picture.
  • Generate invoices in seconds. Tell your AI which client, line items, and amount, and it drafts the invoice in Bonsai for your review — no tab-switching required.
  • Log billable time as you go. Share the call details with your AI — duration, client, and notes you choose to include — and it creates a time entry in Bonsai.

What you can do with it

Here are a few ways business owners are using the Bonsai MCP Connector inside ZoomMate and other AI platforms:
  • “After this call, create a contact for Sarah and add her to the Henderson deal.”
  • “Show my active deals and flag any that haven’t been updated recently.”
  • “Start a new project for the Q3 rebrand.”
  • “Move Catalyst deal to ‘Closed’.”
  • “Log today’s call with Marcus as billable time on the Hartwell project.”
  • “Create an invoice for the Catalyst project — 10 hours at $150, due in 30 days.”

From conversation to completion

The Bonsai by Zoom MCP Connector is part of Zoom’s broader effort to make AI useful for running a business. Not just answering questions, but doing the work.

Bonsai was built around how independent professionals and small business owners actually operate: clients, projects, and payments in one place. Connecting that to AI means your assistant knows your business and can act on it.

The Bonsai by Zoom MCP Connector is available now for customers with an active Bonsai subscription. Users can enable it in their AI platform connector settings and connect to any MCP-compatible AI platform, including ZoomMate, Anthropic Claude, and OpenAI.
