Today, Zoom introduced Zoom AI Companion 3.0, the next generation of AI Companion, launching evolved agentic AI capabilities to Zoom Workplace that will help users deliver higher quality work by harnessing insights from their conversations and get more work done more efficiently. Zoom also announced new custom AI agents, available with the Custom AI Companion add-on, to help customers further tailor their AI Companion experience. With these agentic AI innovations, Zoom Workplace customers will be able to optimize work and gain insights to help them get more done, get better results, and strengthen relationships.

“Around the world, millions of people are using Zoom to connect with their colleagues and customers, but they could be getting so much more out of those conversations with the help of AI,” said Smita Hashim, chief product officer at Zoom. “AI Companion 3.0 will provide deeper insights from their conversations to help them get more done at work and drive better business outcomes, regardless of whether they’re working in Zoom Workplace, in person, or across compatible apps and integrations.”

AI Companion 3.0: The next evolution of agentic AI

Zoom is building on its agentic capabilities launched earlier this year with the next generation of AI Companion to deliver proactive agentic skills that will allow users to convert meeting conversations into completed tasks to maximize productivity and impact, and reimagine their workflows to deliver higher-quality work to help improve business outcomes.

Zoom AI Companion will soon be available on the web.

Get deeper insights

With all the business applications used today, teams are bogged down with too many tools that can’t talk to each other, making it difficult to keep track of discussions, decisions, and content across your workflows. AI Companion 3.0 will help users by proactively uncovering critical information and surfacing relevant details at the right time so users can get work done more efficiently.

  • With new AI note-taking capabilities, users can bring AI Companion to their in-person meetings and meetings outside of Zoom on platforms like Microsoft Teams and Google Meet (expected September 2025), with support for WebEx expected at a later date.
  • Users can jot down quick thoughts, and AI Companion can capture, expand on, and organize the key takeaways by enhancing the notes and highlighting key takeaways (expected October 2025).
  • To help users find what they’re looking for when they need it, agentic retrieval can search across Zoom Workplace, as well as Google and Microsoft platforms if enabled, so users can easily find critical information to further develop documents and other assets (expected November 2025).

Optimize the workday with proactive agentic AI skills

Too much of the work day is spent on busywork and administrative tasks, preventing users from making actual progress. AI Companion will provide users with new agentic skills across Zoom Workplace to help users be more effective and focus their energy on delivering unique value to the business.

  • AI Companion uses agentic AI to schedule meetings for users, with colleagues and external and internal customers. It analyzes attendees’ scheduled time off, different time zones, and current meeting schedules to find the best times for everyone to collaborate so users don’t get bogged down with scheduling.
  • Based on AI Companion’s knowledge of the meetings a user has, the tasks they need to get done in a day, and their participation and role within the meeting, “free up my time” can suggest meetings to skip. Users can also request AI Companion-generated meeting notes from the host, helping them better manage their time (expected October 2025).
  • To help users focus on strategy instead of tactical meeting prep, the enhanced “prepare me for a meeting” skill will provide proactive prompts in advance of a meeting so users know the agenda, previous action items, and key insights to drive productive conversations (expected October 2025).
  • With proactive meeting recommendations, users will soon get help keeping conversations on track, tracking agenda items and key decisions, and getting started with next steps (expected November 2025).
  • To better support group collaboration across meetings, chats, and in-person conversations, the new Zoomie Group Assistant will be able to take action and answer questions on behalf of the group. For example, a user could ask, “@Zoomie What is the latest update on the project?” or “@Zoomie What are the team’s action items?” (expected December 2025). And for hybrid environments, users will be able to say, “Hey, Zoomie,” in a Zoom Room to get support such as help checking into a room, controlling meeting room environments, including lights and temperature, and helping users share their screens (expected December 2025).
  • To optimize in-person time, AI Companion will proactively nudge a user when it notices that a meeting room hasn’t been booked when multiple users are in the office together or resolve a conflict, like when participants have booked different rooms for the same meeting, and suggest a room based on size and location (expected December 2025)
  • Zoom Tasks will soon be able to harness the power of agentic AI to help users get more done by not only creating their to-do lists for them, but also helping them complete tasks (expected October 2025).

Deliver high-quality work faster

Users can interact with AI Companion as a collaboration partner to uplevel their work with minimal guidance because it already understands the context. It knows their most recent and frequent conversation topics and important projects, tailoring more personalized prompts and responses to help them deliver the best possible outputs.

  • Zoom is launching a new work surface that gives users the flexibility to work in a web browser (expected November 2025) or the Zoom Workplace home tab (expected March 2026). This new work surface offers a personalized experience that surfaces the most important information at the right time, giving users an agentic AI solution where they can get help writing, researching, and developing smarter workflows to boost the impact of their work.
  • To help users write better and faster, writing assistance can help them draft, edit, and refine business documents on an interactive surface that can adapt to fit a user’s style (expected November 2025).
  • Users can get even more help writing and generating content with a new deep research skill. For example, in Zoom Docs it leverages conversations across Zoom and integrated third-party apps, internal documents, company knowledge bases, and external web searches to bring diverse data points into comprehensive documents (expected October 2025).

The new custom agent builder helps IT admins create and deploy custom agents.

New custom and third-party agents with the Custom AI Companion add-on

The Custom AI Companion add-on delivers expanded context and app integrations for a more tailored AI Companion experience — with the introduction of the custom agent builder, organizations can reclaim time for deeper work.

  • Custom AI agents in Zoom AI Studio will empower IT admins to configure knowledge bases and tools and test the AI agent’s capabilities before they get deployed (Expected September 2025). The agent builder will also have plug-and-play tool configuration and building functionality through Model Context Protocol (MCP) support.
  • AI Companion will also be able to work Agent2Agent (A2A), starting with ServiceNow AI Agents, to help users get the most out of their tech stack without context switching (expected December 2025).
  • Enhancements to Knowledge Collections include adding SharePoint and ServiceNow connectors. These connectors will help bring data from additional knowledge sources, making responses to queries more relevant for users (expected September 2025).

Real-time voice translation enables participants to hear meeting speech in their language of choice.

Zoom Workplace: More engaging than ever thanks to AI

With new AI capabilities, Zoom Workplace helps drive deeper connections to make work more effective and engaging for everyone.

Boosting meeting effectiveness and engagement

  • Users will soon be able to use photorealistic avatars in Zoom Meetings that will track and mimic their live video feed. For the moments that require a polished presence without being “camera-ready,” participants will be able to use a lifelike AI-generated avatar based on their likeness (expected December 2025).
  • Meeting hosts can now customize their waiting room experience via personalized messages for attendees created with Zoom Clips + AI avatars. This new feature will be especially useful for hosts who want to communicate pre-meeting details like agenda context or instructions ahead of the meeting (expected October 2025).
  • To help Zoom users reduce interpreter costs and facilitate collaboration with global colleagues and partners, real-time voice translation for Meetings will allow participants to hear meeting speech in their preferred language, enabling better collaboration and engagement with fewer language barriers (expected December 2025).
  • Zoom and Cisco are partnering to provide customers with more choice and flexibility with Zoom for Cisco Rooms, giving customers the same high-quality Zoom Meetings experience on Cisco hardware (beta enrollment September 2025). Users will also be able to explore an immersive, true-to-life experience with HP Dimension with Google Beam for Zoom (expected in 2026).
  • Zoom Meetings users will soon enjoy enhanced audio and video quality with features like 60fps high frame rate video, higher bit rate streams for sharper details, and high bandwidth mode for multiple simultaneous HD participant streams. Zoom Rooms meetings will support wired HDMI up to 1080p/60fps and 4K content sharing to deliver ultra-clear visuals for professional collaboration (expected December 2025).

Expediting asynchronous and dispersed teamwork

  • Users can now access apps in Team Chat to help them more easily manage and discover Zoom Apps. This capability lays the foundation for future AI-first integrations, such as AI Q&A agents that will be able to actively participate, be @mentioned, and deliver intelligent, context-aware interactions within the channel (expected September 2025). Users can also automatically save 1:1 meeting chats and AI-generated post-meeting summaries directly to their Zoom Team Chat direct messages to help enhance collaboration and alignment with teams.
  • AI Companion can now generate collaborative whiteboards directly from Zoom meeting discussions with Zoom Whiteboard. If users don’t know where to start, they can easily type in a personalized prompt, and AI Companion will generate a template for the user in seconds (expected September 2025).
  • With Zoom Hub Knowledge Q&A using AI Companion, users will be able to effortlessly ask questions and pull information from Zoom files and enabled third-party data sources (expected November 2025).
  • To help put calls into action, Zoom Phone will soon integrate with Zoom Docs (expected September 2025) and Zoom Tasks (expected December 2025), helping users drive conversations to completion and surfacing key call insights.
  • With many users on the go, Zoom Phone users will benefit from reimagined mobility with cellular companion capabilities. These capabilities allow users to use their native mobile interface and give them strong call quality even in low-bandwidth conditions (expected September 2025 for T-Mobile only at launch).
